The Planetary and Global Health Program of the St. Luke’s Medical Center College of Medicine-William H. Quasha Memorial is on its third collaboration with the EWUU Alliance based in the Netherlands – composed of Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), Wageningen University & Research (WUR), Utrecht University (UU) and University Medical Center Utrecht (UMC Utrecht) – in offering an online certificate course for medical students focused on planetary health and climate-resilient health systems. The online course will be delivered from February 26 to April 1, 2024.
This virtual international certificate course is open to all SLMCCM and non-SLMCCM medical students in the Philippines. Selected students will learn about planetary health, sustainability in healthcare, health systems, climate resilience, health equity and justice, and more. They will also learn how to effectively collaborate with an intercultural and interdisciplinary team. There will be an opportunity to develop communication materials that convey scientific findings to diverse audiences. Students will learn through interactive online lectures, self-paced online modules, a final group project with international students, and mentoring sessions.
The course will be composed of asynchronous and synchronous sessions. There will also be fortnightly mentoring sessions to be scheduled during the course. Below is the timetable for synchronous sessions with international students:
