St. Luke’s Medical Center College of Medicine fosters innovation, with around 233 faculty and more than __ medical and molecular biology students working to advance knowledge in the medical field.
Fostering a culture of academic excellence is one of the most important goals of SLMCCM. A key driver in achieving this goal is promoting a research culture through research development and dissemination. Research encourages curiosity and critical thinking, which leads to discoveries and innovation. Cognizant that research plays a critical role in the future growth and success of the College, the faculty, students, and employees are encouraged to conduct quality and high-impact research. To aid this purpose, SLMCCM, through the Office of Research and Scholarly Work in collaboration with the Office of Medical Education has put in significant effort to improve the curricular delivery of research-related competencies. The 5-year research curriculum at SLMCCM is continuous, progressive, and integrated with the following subjects:
First Year: Preventive and Community Medicine 1 in the First Year
Second Year: Preventive and Community Medicine 2 and Basic Science Research
Third Year: Clinical Research
Fourth Year: Service-learning 1
Fifth Year: Service-learning 2
Through the careful integration of these subjects, the students’ research experience becomes complete and more meaningful.
